World Book Day is Thursday 3rd March 2022, and if you need a last-minute costume or simply don’t want to spend a lot, then we’ve got you covered.
You can either buy a World Book Day costume or go with one of these easy and last-minute World Book Day ideas. Be sure to take inspiration from some of the best children’s books as well as these classic children’s book quotes.
And, while kids tend to love dressing up it can be ‘just another thing to do’ for parents among the chaos that is family survival life.
Goodto.com Family Editor, Stephanie Lowe says; “Don’t be afraid to recycle whatever you have available. Last year, I sent my son into nursery in his skeleton Halloween costume, holding a copy of the book, Funnybones. Winner! Oh and also, get that eyeliner out – it can be used for so many things!”
We know that not all children love to dress up, and this change from the norm can throw them. In this instance it’s okay for them to know their own mind. Otherwise a meet in the middle might be to dress up as a main character who wears regular everyday clothes – such as Tracy Beaker series.
What day is World Book Day 2022?
Every year, World Book Day falls on the same day. It’s always the first Thursday in March, so this year World Book Day is on the 3rd March 2022. Though some schools and nurseries are celebrating Friday 4th March to finish the week on a fun high.
This year marks 25 years of the event and is the first in two years that children are fully back in the classrooms across the nation. And the WBD organisers are ready, with plenty of fun World Book Day resources to download and enjoy.
They’ve also made sure the traditional World Book Day money off vouchers are available in 2022 too. Just be sure to ask their school about getting your hands on the voucher or check the World Book Day website for further details.
With this in mind, we have some brilliant book character costume suggestions – from the easy to the slightly more experimental. For each of our World Book Day ideas, we’ve listed out what you’ll need to create it, including props and clothes, and a link to buy the book, if you don’t have it already.
